Hamilton, ON, April 3, 2017. The jury has reached its decision: After several days of assessing thousands of products from all over the world, Hamilton’s very own Nix Pro Color Sensor received the “Red Dot” distinction. Nix Sensor Ltd. created an outstanding design that the expert committee for the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2017 has recognized with the internationally sought-after seal of quality.
The Nix Pro Color Sensor was designed and built in Hamilton, Ontario by technology company, Nix Sensor Ltd. The Nix Pro is a handheld colour sensor that provides accurate colour measurement of any surface it is placed on and sends the colour data to the accompanying smartphone application. Once a colour is scanned, users can match to more than 12,000 colours in the application’s library. Its unique and patented shape blocks out all ambient light, which allows for its industry leading accuracy.
“It’s absolutely thrilling to win a Red Dot Award,” shares Matthew Sheridan, CEO and Founder of Nix Sensor Ltd. “As the most prestigious design award in the world, it doesn’t get much better than this! To be held to the same standard as legendary firms such as Apple, Ferrari, Dyson, Leica, and more is an absolute honour. It really shows that through dedication, teamwork and innovative design principals, anything is possible. Another big win for our remarkable team here in Hamilton!”
Professor Dr. Peter Zec, founder and CEO of the Red Dot Award: “The Red Dot winners are pursuing the right design strategy. They have recognized that good design and economic success go hand in hand. The award by the critical Red Dot jury documents their high design quality and is indicative of their successful design policy.”
